Kasfareets Super Marine Spitfire Float-plane
3
4Small text reads :- The Supermarine Spitfire owed much in the design field to the Schneider Trophy racing floatplanes, and in 1940 an historical reversion was made by trials of float-equipped Spitfires for use in the Norwgian Campaign. This photograph of Mk VB W3760 , the first Spitfire floatplane to be flown. Later, the fin shape was modified.

Auf Wiedersehen to our " Black Six " ?
The Messerschmitt 109 captured in 1942
And here the Messerschmitt 109 on the right is shown lined up with a Spitfire which is possibly a Mk 5b with the odd cowling under the nose which Mike Farrel thinks may be added engine filters
This is a lovely poster photo of Spifires Mk 5b taken over North Africa reproduced from a British official colour transparency dated May 1943. My daughter got this for me from a car boot at Rushden & Diamonds F.C. in March 2011 and I immediately said they look like Kittyhawks which used to be collected from Kasfareet by pilots flying and fighting in the Western Desert. I was wrong because I was initially misled by the added cowling under the nose.
